How Ray J describes their collective as a “boy band” and “the only group that is a solo artist in a group”. They all give credit to the name Bobby V – an acronym that highlights the stage name that put them on the R&B map.

Sammie describes herself and Bobby as cold, laid-back and lost RSVP members. With Ray J, “what you see is what you get” and Pleasure P “doesn’t make things difficult” and keeps the party going!
It is clear that when RSVP joins TheShadeRoom.com Editor Cassandra Santiago in a virtual interview, these R&B icons are the brothers who believe RSVP is.
“I’m learning in this group that it’s not a structure, it’s not one plus one equals two. Sammie told TSR.
In the months following the hit battle, RSVP worked on their debut album. They spent August and September confining and laying the tracks. But their debut single, “Money Everywhere,” wasn’t released until December.

And the album – although completed and highly anticipated by its supporters – has yet to be released. But the team assured TSR that the project will arrive THIS summer. According to Sammie, what fans can expect is “lasting music”.
“We just had to put out real, real music. ‘Money Everywhere’ is just..a trailer. We want something sexy, we want something bold because that’s what the team is. But for the records we’ve made on the album, we have something for everyone,” added Sammie. “We have love music, we have sex music, we have island music, we have a track record, we have a great summer with Hitmaka. So it’s just getting the music out there and letting things build around that. our star power received [us] ending, which I appreciate because everything we’ve done has been lit because they came to see us together, but once we release the music, it really makes a point that as As a team, as a team, we’re awesome.
So what is holding them back? Bobby V told TSR it was a combination of establishing some structure and dealing with the business side of music.
Bobby said: “We just kind of went crazy in November and as time went on we got that structure in place. “Really in the music business it’s really the business of music. We’re just trying to make sure we handle the business.” He added, “We really have a great first album. I was ready to release this album, but I knew we needed to release more music to show people that we were serious. We are serious, we have a good time together. We talk to each other, and we play together a lot, but we have a dope album arranged by P.
As for the surprises in the project, Pleasure P said they have an Afro-beats single called “Rock The Boat” that “was a surprise compared to what I was expecting.” [supporters] commonly known [them] because.”
Meanwhile, the group exclusively shared a snippet from their second single, “Mr. Nasty Time,” with The Shade Room – another sexy record with a strong 90s/2000 vibe.

RSVP energizes their group after the performance of i Love RnB Festival
When asked about their studio sessions, Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V and Pleasure P all said it was the “easy part”.
Our interview was messy at best——full of gentle teases about Bobby’s love for his piano, laughing at Pleasure P’s and Ray’s matchmaking tenacity. J winked his horse before leaving early.
Bobby told TSR’s Cassandra that the interview reflects how RSVP plays out in the studio—“talkative and bullshit.” Ray J then quickly explains that they can sometimes be “uncut” and “all over the place,” but their arrangement is structural imperfection. Energy, they say, “just different.”
The group members were reminded of their different vibes when they performed at i love RnB . festival at the end of May. After months of scattered dedication to their boy band, the festival rekindled the spark that brought them together a year ago.
Bobby V says:
“It’s fun, I leave the group every day, but when we had the i Love RnB Festival and we went out, we were all happy and we had a good time. Because we organized and did everything together when we were new in the club, just kicking it and just singing songs. But when we actually performed a few weeks ago at the i Love RnB festival, I think it really revived all of us and it really gave us the vision again that this is a thing. something big and something that can be done at a time. high level. I feel like it could be bigger than anything else. I feel like the sky is the limit so I’m excited for it.”
According to Ray J, minutes before they stepped onto the festival stage, they had two members (Sammie and Bobby) who didn’t have time to rehearse.
Gladly P suggested they make the stage their party, so they did as a group. And ATE performance–surprise and refocus the team.
“…I think what really surprised us all was this i Love RnB Festival, where we had never rehearsed, and we were only 5 minutes away from being on stage. We still don’t know who will finish first, second and third. We never practiced the songs, we didn’t know what we were going to do. And we decided to go out there and do all the songs together as a group… it was like this event, like this party,” Ray J said. He added, “It gave us the energy to go back there and really wanted to shut it down. I felt like we saw a new vision when we all walked up to the stage and sang together. [i Love RnB Festival] really our beginning is like getting back together.

In RSVP, there is no leader. Role play, for sure. But overall, the men agreed that they were equal partners. They’ve passed phase one, which involves balancing a solo artist’s career experience with their group experience, and into phase two of releasing music.
Why now? For entertainment, culture, brotherhood and the state of R&B. Making boy groups cool again? Yes, that’s it too.
“We do it also because of the culture. I feel like R&B is dead, and really R&B in general, we don’t collaborate, we don’t fight, we don’t hang out together,” Bobby V said. “So we’re trying to really be like setting the tone and changing perspective on R&B. I find rap big and stupid because it’s all guys messing with each other. They hug at the set, they hang out. R&B guys act like ‘Oh I’m better than him, oh I’m better than him.
Sammie says:
“I’ve been a solo artist my whole career so when I’m with those people, I can tap into a side of myself that I didn’t know I was showing until Verzuz. These are all my brothers. I have a real love and respect for each of them individually…We have the opportunity to bring back a boy group or a boy band and make it fun again. We’re superstars ourselves, but together we’re like an R&B band of avengers. So I’m happy, that’s why I say yes because I really love [these] you. I admire them, see them as brothers. For me, it’s about the fun side of it. In this music business, it is easy to lose joy because there are so many different obstacles and hurdles that you have to overcome. With RSVP, you just show up and have fun and I appreciate that at this stage in my life.”
If you’re wondering what’s the difference this time around Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V and Pleasure P, they’ll agree that it’s almost nothing. They already have fans, talent and experience. So RSVP is all about them being combined and “on steroids,” says Sammie.
“It’s not too different, it’s just exaggerated. You have the awesomeness that Joy brings, the coolness that Bob brings, the awesomeness of me, the awesomeness of Ray J, and you’re putting that in a lil gumbo. It really sounds like great music. I think that’s why the debut album was so great, so easy, because we were personally ready to perform, ready to sing live, ready to write music, write lyrics and bring sauce. mine, and it’s basically a concoction of RSVP . So I wouldn’t say it’s different, it’s just about steroids. Together we have another synergy, another energy, another magnetic force that we cannot explain, nor plan. That just wanted to happen when the four of us came together.
Meanwhile, Bobby V says they’re bringing back “real R&B like the R&B of the 90s, 2000s” rather than trying to catch up with today’s rap influences on their genre.
And RSVP doesn’t worry about criticism, even those with “old” comments. Pleasure P says they focus on the people who love and support them.
“For me, I only care about those who care about me and us and what we have achieved. There’s a lot of people trying to take that away from us, calling us old heads and everything, and we’re still young. And we have our own, and we’ve run it for an era, and we’re still here doing what we love. We are lucky to be here.”
