RSM Classic 2022 standings, scores: Ben Martin, Patrick Rodgers lead the crowded group at Sea Island
The final round of the final event of the calendar year 2022 is set to be puzzling. With a crowded leaderboard coming out of Round 3 at the RSM Classic 2022, Patrick Rodgers and Ben Martin will be tasked with successfully converting a 54-hole lead as the pair head into Sunday with a meager lead of 54 holes. 14 points below.
With a career win between the two of them — Martin won the Shriners Children’s Open 2014 — nothing will be awarded to them. Martin enters this week at Sea Island just hoping to find some form as the fall swing has largely been bad for the former Clemson Tiger. Missing three out of six cuts and failing to pick up a single top 40 result, Martin relied on good vibes and familiarity with the property to turn his game around.

Rodgers was second in strokes on approach and sixth in strokes on two laps on the Seaside Course. If he can continue to operate with such ability in the final round, it is conceivable he will eventually lift a trophy on the PGA Tour.

A large group of Sea Island residents participated this week, including Harris English, JT Poston and Keith Mitchell. Not many groups have been successful in their home event, and fellow countrymen Brian Harman and Will Gordon will see this as Sea Island’s best chance to break the dry spell in their hometown on Sunday.
“You know, they say the locals never win here, but I mean, [Kevin] Kisner spends all kinds of time here. [Chris] Kirk has lived here for seven or eight years,” Harman said. “I don’t think about it too much. There’s a lot of talent on this island and sooner or later one of us will win the tournament.”

All of the people listed above are three strokes behind the leader and could in fact win the RSM Classic 2022. Despite the extensive nature of the event, Putnam is still the one we will rock. The 33-year-old barely had his best on Saturday, but could still sign for a sub-standard round and keep himself in the league. Putnam will be part of the penultimate group, and with his all-round consistent play throughout the fall, he should feel more comfortable in the scene.
