Rooftop Solar and Gas Storage – Boosted by that?

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Any explosive hopes of sanity in energy policy by EU leaders are rapidly fading, as they unveil plans to replace dependence on Russian imports.

Climate change: EU reveals plan to end dependence on Russian gas

But moving at a speed few thought possible, the EU has now come up with a strategy that can cut its dependence on this fuel source by two-thirds within a year.

The REPowerEU The plan aims to make Europe independent of Russian fossil fuels by 2030, but initial efforts have focused solely on gas.

Discussions are ongoing with existing gas suppliers including Norway, Algeria and Azerbaijan to promote flows.

The plan is expected to end Russia’s reliance on all fossil fuels “by 2030”.

The EU also proposes a strong increase in renewable energy, biogas and hydrogen.

But with Germany announcing plans to build two new LNG terminals to boost supply, some experts fear that this could increase its long-term dependence on fossil fuels.

Professor Paula Kivimaa from the Institute for the Environment Finland and the University of Sussex said: “I think we are living in a difficult time, where there is too much political pressure to make decisions about energy policy. this.

Any switch to coal would accelerate carbon emissions, a trend that has been going well.

The Commission document also states that renewable energy projects must be fast-tracked and says there are great potential for rooftop solar power in the country.

Solar on the roof? in Europe? Northern Europe in particular hardly sees the sun in winter, when they need extra energy to keep warm, and even in summer the sun is quite low in the sky.

This EU energy plan makes little sense, it reinforces my view that the real agenda is to hope that Russia will conquer and destroy the Ukrainian partisans, so that Europe can get back to business. As usual, buy energy from Russia.

Germany in my opinion is particularly obvious, first of all by Block NATO’s heavy weapons from reaching Ukraine lead to war, then by mocking more support, give “support” in the form of Inactive Soviet vestige weapons stored since the fall of East Germany.

President Biden has just vetoed Poland’s supply of fighter jets to Ukraine.

They all paint a picture, don’t they?
