Rimac Nevera R unveiled – powerful electric car with 2,107 PS; accelerates from 0-300 km/h in 8.66 seconds; only 40 units expected to be produced

Rimac has revealed the new Nevera R, a lighter and even more powerful version of the Nevera that debuted in production form more than three years ago. According to the Croatian automaker, the Nevera R is designed to be an “aggressive replica” of the Nevera, offering track-crushing performance.

Key to this is a battery pack with an energy capacity of 108 kWh. While that’s less than the standard Nevera’s 120 kWh battery pack, this next-generation battery pack sees the EV’s maximum power output from its four-motor setup increase from 1,914 PS to a staggering 2,107 PS.

As a result, the 0-100 km/h time is just 1.81 seconds, identical to the Nevera. However, acceleration times are lowered at other speed points, with the 0-200 km/h time taking just 4.38 seconds (down from 4.42 seconds), while the 100-200 km/h time is just 2.46 seconds (down from 2.59 seconds). As for the 0-300 km/h acceleration, the Nevera R needs just 8.66 seconds compared to the Nevera which will do it in 9.22 seconds.

For even more impressive numbers, the Nevera R will run the quarter mile (0.4 km) in just 8.23 seconds and hit a top speed of 259 mph (412 km/h) with some manufacturer oversight. That’s 0.03 seconds faster than the Nevera if you’re referring to the Racelogic equipment the company uses, or 0.02 seconds according to Dewesoft’s verification. The Nevera set 23 single-day performance records last year, and the Nevera R will clearly be looking to beat most of them.

It’s not all about raw speed, as the Nevera R is fitted with new Michelin Cup 2 tyres and a new-generation all-wheel torque distribution system (R-AWTV) to optimise grip. A large rear wing and revised diffuser are also clear indicators of improved aerodynamics, with Rimac claiming a 15 per cent increase in downforce, a 5 per cent increase in lateral grip and a 10 per cent reduction in understeer.

All of these upgrades help the Nevera R lap the Nardo Ring 3.8 seconds faster than its predecessor. Oh, and there’s the Nebula Green paint, staggered wheels (20-inches up front and 21-inches at the rear), and the same super-custom interior.

Production of the Nevera R will be limited to just 40 units, out of the original 150 Nevera cars produced. Don’t expect it to be cheap, as the standard Nevera retails for over two million euros (about RM9.7 million).
