Ride the Rapids First Winner for Long River

Ride the Rapids became the first winner for a male freshman Long river when she caught a $30,000 first claim event on November 12 at Laurel Park.

Starting for the third time in Super C Racing, the 2-year-old sneakily clings to the transparent pacesetter and creates a score. Disqualified by Carlos Lopez, she hit the rope in a final time of 1:13.36 for six stretches on a good main track to boost her earnings to $28,600 for trainer Dale Capuano .

Ride the Rapids was bred in Maryland by Chanceland Farm, who later sold the filthy animal to Super C for $40,000 at Fasig-Tipton’s 2021 Mideast Fall Annual Sale .

The regal-breed Long River is a 12-year-old son of AP Indy in addition to Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) female lead in 2006. Originally raced in the United States for breeder Darley, Long River has won the Time for a Change Stakes Award in 2013 and the 2014 Evening Attire Stakes. He then won three ratings that year, including the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1). Sent to Dubai for his 5-year-old campaign, he scored the biggest score of his career in Round 3 of the Emirates Airline-sponsored Al Maktoum 2017 Challenge (G1) while Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohd Al Maktoum motor.

Long River stands into breeding season in 2022 with an advertising fee of $1,500 at Anchor & Hope Farm near Port Deposit, Md.
