Richard Mille launches the first women’s sports watch with a new look RM 07-04 Sports automatica collection of six colorful models with a new skeletonized automatic movement and a lightweight 30.5 mm x 45 mm carbon or quartz case that is highly shock resistant.
The new Richard Mille RM 07-04 Automatic Sport comes in six color options with a colorful quartz case or a black carbon case.
Richard Mille said it took three years to develop the new series. Many of its technical features were devised after consultation with six female athletes, who described the comfort, functionality and aesthetics of the watch ideal for wearing in and after their sports activities.
The collection’s Caliber CRMA8, the most compact movement developed by Richard Mille, features the brand’s iconic function selector.
Removing all pressure on the mainspring body, the selector is linked to a pusher at 4 o’clock and allows the wearer to easily choose between neutral (N), winding (W) positions. or time setting (H). The hand at 5 o’clock shows the function in action.
The RM 07-04 Sports automatic It’s shock-resistant with a highly tested and proven ability to withstand accelerations over 5,000 g. Richard Mille ensures this durability by fabricating the base plate and bridge from titanium with PVD treatment and black plasma electricity. Richard Mille then finished with satin, microblasted and beveled the parts by hand.
The complete case construction of the series is water resistant to 50 meters thanks to two Nitrile O-rings, twenty titanium screws and a 316L stainless steel bezel. Each watch is also lightweight at 36 grams, including the strap.
Five of the new watches (creamy white, mauve, salmon, green and dark blue) are made of Quartz TPT while one (black case, below) is made from Carbon TPT .
Since each is made of multiple parallel layers of carbon fiber or silica fiber, each looks slightly different from the others, even when finished in the same color. Richard Mille finishes each watch’s titanium crown with a satin finish, which is then blown and polished.
In an unusual twist, Richard Mille says they have created the specific colors of each RM 07-04 Automatic Sport case to “interact perfectly with the color of the strap, needle tip or flange, according to a palette of colours. that Richard Mille alone knows the secret.”
