Review of Apple QuickTake 100, Compact Digital Camera from 1994

It’s easy to look at modern digital cameras and forget how spoiled we really are. After all, the latest generation of cameras makes it almost impossible to miss a shot. Even a decade ago, digital cameras were far less capable, and if you turn the clock back three decades, digital camera models were barely born. This delightful vintage review looks at one such camera, the Apple Quicktake 100.

Coming to you from Gordon Laing’s Dino Byte, this neat review will take a look at the Apple Quicktake 100 digital camera. First released in 1994, the Quicktake 100 is more of a pair of binoculars, and although that may not seem like it today. suitable, but at the time, the form factor of digital cameras was hardly standardized. The Quicktake 100 can capture up to 32 320×240 images (0.08 megapixels) or 8 high resolution 640×480 images (0.31 megapixels). It comes with a 50mm equivalent f/2 lens and allows shutter speeds between 1/30 and 1/175 of a second. It is powered by three AA batteries. New as a digital camera in 1994, the Quicktake 100 didn’t really catch on, leading Steve Jobs to kill it when he returned to the company. Check out the video above for a full rundown of Laing.
