Rescue seeks justice in dog abduction and violent murder at shelter

Terrifying security footage has gone viral after someone barged into a dog rescue and aggressively dragged a dog out of her crate. The suspect left the building with the dog, despite the cries of all the dogs in the room.

Not long after the break-in, the stolen dog was found in critical condition on the side of the highway. Sadly, she did not survive long enough to receive treatment. Suspects were nowhere to be found, but they won’t escape easily. Dog lovers have raised a $17,000 bounty to ensure this dog gets justice.

Robbery leads to dog’s death

One night, security footage at Paw Works The Camarillo facility caught a thief breaking into a room with dozens of dogs in a crate. In the video, a person wearing a hood walks around the room and shines a flashlight at several dogs. At one point, they stopped to try to get a dog out of their crate, but the dog fought back and tried to bite the person.

So the suspect gave up and switched to another dog: a 2-year-old Shepherd hybrid named Pretty Girl. Pretty Girl also resisted but the suspect violently snatched her out of the crate and hit her several times. He then left the facility with the stolen dog.

The rescue searched for Pretty Girl for several hours, and a kind Samaritan found her injured on the side of the highway. They took her to Paw Works Veterinary Hospital, but she died soon after.

“We think she fought for her life, she is not a dog that is easy with strangers. She is a very loyal dog and if you see in that video she got into a fight with him and he is hitting her,” Paw Works wrote on Instagram.

Looking for a killer of pretty girls

When the stranger found the Beautiful Girl, she suffered injuries to her back, neck and head. She also had bruising and bleeding in her abdomen and swelling around her rectum. Rescuers believe she jumped out of a moving car or was pushed after she continued to fight back. But sadly, there is still no information about the suspect.

Thanks to the community, Paw Works was able to offer a reward of $12,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation added $5,000 to the prize money to bring it up to $17,000.
