Report: Usyk-Joshua heavyweight title rematch will land in Saudi Arabia
Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua world heavyweight title rematch is headed to Saudi Arabia Daily mail.
Jeff Powell’s article reveals that the fight is likely to take place on June 25 over a tempting $120 million site fee levied by Saudi Arabia.
Last week, it was confirmed that Usyk had left Ukraine after participating in the fight against the terrible Russian invasion that left many people dead. The WBA, IBF and WBO champion chose to leave the war-torn environment to begin camping for his return bout under his contract with Joshua.
Joshua is no stranger to fighting in Saudi Arabia having fought there in December 2019 when he retained his title from Andy Ruiz Jr. That comes after six months since losing to a huge underdog team at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden.
Another rematch, another day of slightly reduced pay, but the task is far greater having been thoroughly beaten by Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year.
Following Usyk’s decision to bravely fight for his country, it was speculated that Joshua would have a temporary bout until the right time for a second battle took place. The wheels seem to be spinning rapidly, now we are waiting for official confirmation of the ongoing fight.
