KATIE O’BRIEN BECAUSE OF PERSONAL POINTS

The couple started their journey with a Japan Airlines first class flight from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND). To land this coveted bonus slot, it cost 120,000 Asian miles each, so Katie and her husband moved Citi ThankYou points arrive Asia Miles with a 1:1 ratio. But they still need to make up their Asia Miles balance.

So they enlisted their support Marriott Bonvoy points and transfer them to Asia Miles. While these transfers at a 3:1 ratio are less impressive, Marriott 5,000 bonus Asia Miles for every 60,000 points transferred.

Result? A flight worth more than $30,000 for 240,000 miles.
