Re-Elected California Governor Newsom’s Energy Insights Will Be Challenged Over the Next 4 Years – Is It Rising With That?

Newsom’s avoidance of addressing energy policy conundrums would leave him with limited energy knowledge for the next four years of financial torture on those who voted for him.

Ronald Stein is an engineer, energy literacy senior policy advisor for Heartland, and co-author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book “Exploring Clean Energy”.

Despite Newsom’s statewide policy decisions that are driving up energy costs in the state, only a few Californians are annoyed with their rising electricity and gas costs, resulting in higher costs. overcrowding, increasing homelessness and crime. But most voters only expressed their approval of the exotic energy policies that Newsom promoted and a desire to endure four more years of financial torture.

The continued out-migration of residents from the state has resulted in a loss of representation in Washington for the first time in its 171-year history. Leaving residents are being watched by large corporations and private businesses move their headquarters out of California in 2021 at twice the rate in both 2020 and 2019 and triple their rate in 2018.

California has a history of having the highest gas prices in the country. Why? First, the West Coast fuel market is isolated from other supply/demand centers because California is an energy island. The The Sierra Mountains are a natural barrier preventing the state from accessing the pipeline leading to any excess oil. As a result, the West Coast is vulnerable to unplanned outages of West Coast refineries because it cannot make up for the unexpected loss of supply by quickly supplying additional products from outside. outside the area.

Newsom is emphatically complaining that oil companies are far too far away from making profits, but he may be out of touch with reality because two California refineries have closed in his current view. and two more factories are likely to close during his new term.

Under Newsom’s watch over the last few years, two of California’s refineries have largely shut down and no longer produce gasoline, aviation fuel or any petroleum derivatives. any more. Those two firms, Phillips66 at Rodeo and Marathon at Martinez, currently focus solely on renewable diesel engines.

More financial bad news could come in Newsom’s next term with the permanent closure of two more refineries in California, the Chevron Refinery in Richmond and the PBF Refinery at Martinez. If the court upholds 2021 Bay Area Air Quality Management Code (BAAQMD) 6-5 To further reduce particulate emissions, both announced that they would close before spending a billion dollars to retrofit their refineries to comply with further reductions in particulate emissions.

The world has seen the impact for Germany and Britain as they depend on Russia for most of their energy, but for 4order largest economy in the world, in CaliforniaNewsom has argued that the State is more than 56% dependent on imported crude oil, but repeatedly seeks to further cut domestic oil production causing more dependent on foreign.

California’s growing dependence on foreign countries is a national security threat to the entire United States. Did Newsom expect a better outcome than Germany and Britain experienced without more control over their future energy needs?

I’m sure Newsom had a chance to see the 2006 movie.”Blood DiamondStarring Leonardo DiCaprio, depicts many of the same atrocities currently occurring in the pursuit of “Blood Minerals”, i.e. those exotic minerals and metals in support of the “green” movement. in rich countries continue to promote environmental degradation of landscapes in developing countries, and impose atrocities of humanity on citizens with yellow, brown and tan workers. Black people are being exploited because of the green movement of some rich countries.

Even thoughBiden administration statement that EV battery materials from China can be contaminated by child labor made of material known as production with children or forced labor, Newsom continues to support subsidies to buy electric vehicles and build more wind and solar power as those subsidies are providing financial incentives for developing countries to exploit the materials. “green” promotes the further exploitation of the poor in developing countries. I personally think that Newsom has higher moral and ethical standards that will prevent him from exploiting the poor in developing countries.

Newsom seems oblivious to the fact that everything that needs electricity is produced from petroleum derivatives produced from crude oil, but Newsom continues to support wind and solar that only generate electricity intermittently. but cannot produce anything for society. Newsom has yet to identify an alternative to the oil derivatives that underlie more than 6,000 products and fuels for our various transportation infrastructures and economies.

Life without oil is NOT as simple as NEWSOM CAN THINK because renewable energy is just intermittent electricity from wind and sunshine because NO wind turbines or solar panels can produce anything for society. Climate change could affect humanity but being forced to live without petroleum-based products will require a lifestyle forced back to the dark horse and 1800s days. and possibly the greatest threat to civilization’s eight billion inhabitants.

In Newsom’s all-electric world, Newsom’s bizarre energy policies reflect his belief that all infrastructure was developed in less than two centuries, from products manufactured from Crude oil, NOT necessary for future societies, such as healthcare, electronics, communications and many transportation infrastructures like airlines, merchant ships, cars, trucks, military and space programs.

According to the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), California’s high cost of electricity already fifty percent above the national average for residents and twice the national average for commerce and is expected to be even higher.

California is the nation’s top electricity producer in solar, geothermal, and biomass, but it cannot replace the ongoing shutdown of electricity from nuclear and natural gas power plants. with intermittent electricity from renewables is forcing the state to import more electricity.

Again, under Newsom’s watch, the EIA said that California imports more electricity than any other US statemore than double that of Virginia, the second largest importer of electricity.

Newsom’s policies further forced California to become the only contiguous state in the United States that imports most of its crude oil energy from abroad. That dependency has increase crude oil imports from abroad from 5% in 1992 to 56% at present total consumption.

With today’s crude oil prices nearing $100 a barrel, imported crude costs California over $150 million a day, yes, every day, being paid to oil-rich foreign countries, taking away jobs. and business opportunities for Californians, and drivers pay high prices for fuel.

Richer countries now have higher gasoline prices, while poorer countries and oil producing and exporting countries have lower fuel costs. Version of the book global gasoline price per gallon in US dollars shows international information and gasoline price trends of rich countries that have chosen “green” at all costs, compared with poorer countries and oil-producing and exporting countries.

Another issue Newsom will not discuss is funding for future road maintenance. Newsom has not asked to sell internal combustion vehicles after 2035 but seems unlikely to admit that heavier EVs contribute nothing to road maintenance and repair. California almost has 400,000 miles of road heavily reliant on road taxes from fuels that contribute more $8.8 billion annuallyThe same tax base also funds environmental programs that will gradually decrease over the coming decades.

Maybe Newsom will come up with a plan over the next four years to fund billions of dollars in roads being used by electric vehicles, or just pass that problem on to its predecessor.

California voters had the opportunity to call Newsom back in 2021 but chose to support his strange and expensive energy policies. After the recall failed, Newsom was just re-elected by voters willing to accept the highest energy costs in America. Voters supported his avoidance of energy policy conundrums that would leave him with limited energy knowledge for the next four years of financial torture on the already working class. vote for him.
