We all do different things to show our pets that we care about them. For a woman living in the United States, she chose to show her pet rat how much she cares by building him a cute little rat mansion filled with all kinds of food. gourmet products.
That lucky little mouse is Gustav, a tiny baby mouse found abandoned in a garden when he was just two days old.
Eliza discovered the little mouse with its sister, Scarlett, in her garden – all alone. They were too small to survive on their own and so Eliza knew she had to bring them in.
She brought them into the house and began to do homework on how to care for the newborn mice. Eliza had to get creative about how to feed them, and ended up having to cut a paintbrush to dip the end in a special powder formula she would then give them.
It took them some time to adjust at first, but eventually Gustav and Scarlett got the hang of licking the formula off the tip of the brush. Eliza lovingly spends her day feeding them every two hours.
She also makes it a habit to weigh them regularly to make sure they’re getting enough nutrients to thrive. Two little mice are constantly surrounded by a hot water bottle so that they do not get cold because their bodies are too fragile to be able to regulate their own temperature.
Despite Eliza’s best efforts, both little mice fell ill. Unfortunately, Scarlett did not make it. It was a sad blow, but it also exercised Eliza’s resolve to ensure Gustav’s survival.
She was sure the little mouse did it, and he did! Eventually, Gustav began to grow in size and became stronger on his own.
Eliza was then able to take him to a good place where she could build him his own house. She made him the prettiest little mouse home ever. It comes complete with all sorts of items like wood chips, plants, and earth so it can burrow and build its own little nest.
But that’s not the only way she’s spoiled little Gustav. He also eats like a king!
Eliza has gone to great lengths to provide him with the freshest food, such as mini smoothie bowls and cupcakes. Talk about yum! And the best part is that they are all made with mouse-friendly ingredients.
Young Gustav lived a high life until his death from a respiratory illness. Sadly, Eliza shared via Instagram that despite all the trips to the vet, Gustav must eventually be put to sleep. But the good thing is that Gustav was able to enjoy a beautiful life while being cared for by his loved ones.
