Ram 1500 EV 2024 concept introduced ahead of Q4 . reveal

Ram truck is expected to unveil an all-electric pickup concept, which will have a preview of the upcoming Ram 1500 BEV, from September to December of this year.

This all-electric pickup in production form will be the brand’s answer to Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer EV.

The production version of this concept car will go into production in 2024, as previous report.

From an Australian perspective, a spokesman for Ram Trucks’ local Ateco distributor said they are “working closely with our colleagues at Ram Trucks in the US and are monitoring a number of vehicles that are suitable for this purpose.” suitable for the Australian market”.

This seems to be a better omen than none.

Ahead of the reveal, Ram posted a short video on Twitter showing another blurry look at the front of the concept car.

From what can be seen, there is a distinct Ram badging in the middle of the concept, as well as a signature daytime running lights appearing on the headlight brackets.

It certainly looks like an all-electric alternative to fire breathing RAM 1500 TRX.

On the roof of the concept car in the video there is also a dual bubble roof, a design feature derived from several models designed by Zagato and derived from racing cars.

It’s not clear if Ram intended to give this concept a sporty look, but it sure looks sexy with its extreme shoulder line and puffy bonnet.

Ram has previously said it is aiming to deliver electric vehicles in the majority of the segments it competes in by 2025, with a full range of EV models to be offered no later than 2030.

Ram said it was initially planning two electric vans: a “medium-sized” one, closer in size to the trucks. Ford Rangerand a full-size equivalent power Ram 1500.

The former will be underpinned by Stellantis’ dedicated electric STLA Large architecture, which will also be the basis of production. Chrysler Airflow and coming soon Dodge electric muscle carwhile the latter will use the new dedicated electric chassis STLA Frame architecture.

A range of electric vehicles (EVs) on both platforms were introduced at Stellantis EV Day 2021 in wireframe form.

Vehicles using the STLA Large architecture will offer 400V or 800V technology and battery packs ranging in size from 101 to 118kWh.

They will offer a range of up to 800 km and come in both single electric and dual electric powertrain setups.

The STLA Frame vehicle will have batteries ranging from 159kWh to 200kWh and provide a range of up to 800 km.

Vehicles on both platforms will use electric motors with capacities ranging from 150kW to 330kW, meaning a 660kW dual-motor powertrain is on the menu.

For context, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will offer up to 495kW and 645km of range in RST First Edition guise, the Ford F-150 Lightning will offer up to 420kW and 480km of range, and the GMC Hummer EV will produce 745kW and 529km . scope in guise of Version 1.

STLA-based vehicles will be available in lengths from 4800mm to 550mm, while STLA Frame vehicles will be available in lengths from 5600mm to 6200mm.

Ram’s promise to have a full range of EVs by 2030 suggests that it will not only work on the aforementioned mid- and large-sized electric pickups, but also EVs for the rest of the lineup.

Ram not only sells 1500 and heavier 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all locally supplied, but also offer ProMaster City and ProMaster which are improved versions of Fiat Doblo and Ducato truck.

The Ducato already has an electric powertrain available in Europe.
