Quidditch Champions Reveal Triwizard School’s Pitch – PlayStation.Blog

Hello students of Beauxbatons, Hogwarts and Durmstrang! We are excited to reveal the Triwizard Quidditch Cup in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions reveals Triwizard School's pitch

Featuring Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, and Durmstrang Academy of Magical Learning, the Triwizard Quidditch Cup will be included in the game’s Career Mode. This tournament marks the first time iconic international schools from the wizarding world have been adapted. We’re excited to showcase this exclusive look at the pitches and provide some insight into what players can expect to see when the game launches digitally on PS5 and PS4 on September 3. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be available at no additional cost to all PlayStation Plus members as a Monthly Game from September 3 to September 30!

From the beginning, we knew we wanted to capitalize on the fact that Quidditch Champions isn’t limited to Hogwarts or the locations we’ve seen in the films. Quidditch is an international sport loved by witches and wizards all over the world, and it’s only natural that students from every wizarding school would play the sport in their own way.

As they progress through the game’s Career Mode, players will eventually reach the Triwizard Quidditch Cup, where they will choose one of three international schools to represent in the cup. Players can choose to represent Hogwarts, where they will line up alongside the school’s finest such as Cedric Diggory, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. When competing against Beauxbatons, players may find themselves in a high-speed chase for the Golden Ball alongside Fleur Delacour. While in a high-intensity match against Durmstrang, players should be sure to keep an eye out for Viktor Krum, who is skilled enough to play Seeker for the Bulgarian national team at the age of 19 – in the World Cup Final, no less.

Of course, a large part of the inspiration came directly from the Goblet of Fire film, which gave us a unique look at the students and culture of two of Europe’s greatest magical schools. It makes us wonder, how would students from these schools approach Quidditch? We imagine Beauxbatons students on intricately crafted broomsticks, flying with perfect form and performance across a beautifully manicured pitch, and Durmstrang students running practice brooms in harsh conditions.

Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is nestled in the Pyrenees Mountains of southern France. The school’s depictions of ice sculptures and fountains are reminiscent of Baroque architecture and gardens. The lawns are perfectly manicured, reflecting pools surround them, and spectators watch the sport from elaborately decorated bleachers.

Durmstrang Academy, on the other hand, is located in the far north of Europe. In contrast to Beauxbatons’ picturesque daytime weather, we set the Durmstrang pitch at night, under the aurora borealis. Viking-inspired architecture can be seen surrounding the pitch, with minimal fires to keep the school a secret. The pitch itself is set away from the school for the same reason, and the iconic ship that students use to get around is moored next to the pitch, surrounded by water. The pitch’s surface is covered with icy black stone, ensuring that athletes who fall off their brooms learn from any mistakes.

We can’t wait for players to experience the Triwizard Quidditch Cup in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions when the game launches on September 3 on PS5 and PS4.
