I don’t know about the rest of you, but holy hell: I don’t have great memories of riding the middle or high school bus. It’s noisy, really smoky diesel and full of fucking kids (me included). However, my memory would be a lot worse if there was a moment where the driver passed out while at the wheel.

That’s just what happened on a Warren, Michigan school bus recently, according to a report published by CBS News on Thursday. In the security video, the driver can be seen and heard the driver broadcasting their dispatch, saying they are feeling very dizzy. Then they move to slow down the bus and lean to go neutral or park, and it was at this moment that they passed out while the bus was still rolling.
This could have easily turned into a bad scene without the quick action of a 7th grader who jumped out of his seat and not only put his foot on the brake but also put his hand on the wheel.I, but also shouted to other students that someone needed to call 911.
Honestly, if I were a 7th grader in this situation, I’d probably rather die in a horrible accident than die from the shame of jumping in front of all the other obnoxious kids on the planet. bus, so I think we’re all indebted to this anonymous kid (because it’s a minor, duh) a full Jalopnik salute.
