Puppy Mill Survivor with missing teeth and vocal cords will become the cutest Cadbury bunny!

Over the past few years, Cadbury has been organizing fitting sessions for the Cadbury Bunny mascot. However, Cadbury Bunny is not a bunny at all. Instead, it could be any cute-looking animal with bunny ears (all of them, of course!)

This year, there have been many amazing pets to try, but only one can be the winner. One of the most notable contestants from the first round was Howie, an adorable Maltese dog rescued from a puppy farm. He will create the cutest and most inspirational Cadbury Bunny!

Howie’s Story

Howie currently lives in North Carolina with a wonderful family, but his life has not always been so great. In the early years of his life, he was a show dog, but then he was sold to a puppy factory in China, where he stayed for 5 years. The poor dog had to go through a lot of torture just to make breeding easier for the puppy factory.

Howie’s mother, Bridget Bryant, said: ‘Unfortunately, he was sold to a puppy mill, where he stayed for five years. “And while he was there, they pulled out his teeth and cut his vocal cords to make it easier for him to mate.”

Bridget and her husband Scott adopted Howie after he flew in from China. The puppy mill survivors are often scared of the world, especially around humans, so the pair are amazed at Howie’s progress so far. He has grown to love them very much despite his injury, so his family thought he would be the perfect candidate for this year’s Cadbury Bunny.

This year’s Cadbury Bunny competition is specifically for rescue animals, so Howie is a great fit. However, despite being lovable and strong, Howie did not make it to the final round. Even so, there are plenty of other great rescue animals that Howie could end up cheering for.

Who are the 10 finalists?

It was a tough competition and many dog lovers were surprised Howie didn’t make the top 10. Here are the animals that are still in the competition:

  • fir – A beaver became an orphan after someone blew up its dam.
  • rabbit – An adorable little dog with a protruding tongue like Howie’s.

  • Andes – An adorable chinchilla with a unique smile.
  • Red bird – A blind guinea pig from a hoarding situation.
  • Jar – An abandoned duck in a cardboard box on the side of a busy road.

Of course, it’s sad that Howie wasn’t one of the finalists, but even just trying it out helped his story spread. Hopefully hearing about Howie will encourage more people to be more careful about where they buy their dogs. If you go to a breeder, look for signs that a puppy came from a puppy mill before supporting the business.

The ten finalists may not have been the survivors of the puppy mill, but they were still well deserved to win them all. Vote for your favorite on Cadbury’s website.
