Pub opening hours extended to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee | UK News

Pub and bar opening hours will be extended across England and Wales over the four bank holidays to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The extension will cover Thursday, June 2 through Saturday, June 4, with an extended period from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Parliament will pass an order today to approve a longer permitting period, giving people an opportunity to continue celebrating the historic milestone.

The Queen, who turned 96 last week, 70th anniversary Her ascension to the throne on 6 February 2022, becoming the first British monarch to achieve this milestone.

The celebration is her first without her husband, the 73-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away 10 months ago.

The national celebration marking the Queen’s record service to the throne will be held over a four-day bank holiday weekend.

Under Section 172 of the Licensing Act 2003, the Home Secretary can order the relaxation of licensing hours to mark occasions of “special national significance”.

The consultation also received support from the National Council of Sheriffs and the National Association for Licensing and Enforcement.
