As is to be expected when you sell a lot of cars, the aftermarket aspect can have a hard time keeping up. Such is the case for Proton, which is having problems with its after-sales, with a lack of parts for both scheduled maintenance and accident repairs causing unhappiness for customers.

However, the company does not take this matter lightly. “While I say it’s not bad, we are very serious about figuring out the root cause, what is making these customers unhappy and what is keeping the customer from receiving their parts on time or why. the car was not properly repaired,” he stated.
The national automaker has been taking steps to fix the problems, the latest being weekly ‘war room’ meetings – chaired by Proton CEO Li Chunrong – to discuss aspects of aftermarket and how to address shortages in parts. According to Roslan, this includes ensuring that suppliers who supply parts from Geely also arrive on time.
Earlier this month, Proton announced that it had implemented a mandatory requirement that all dealers have at least three months holding stock of 22 fast moving parts. Expanding on this, Roslan said that the company is aiming to have enough stock by the end of June, with enough stock for three months at dealers, three months in stock at its warehouses and also have a certain amount of stock in a month at the supplier.
