The 2025 Proton X70 facelift will officially launch on August 15. We have seven days to go until the price announcement of the refreshed SUV that we have been full details last week.
Proton posted a ‘7 days to go’ graphic on its social media, saying “Malaysia’s best-selling premium SUV is about to redefine expectations. Just seven days to the grand launch of the 2025 Proton X70. Experience ‘Inspiring Intelligence’ live on 15 August.” The post included a link to register interest.
This 2025 facelift is a big deal for the X70, as it’s the first major refresh since the SUV – Proton’s first Geely-based model – was Launched in December 2018. Since then, the C-segment SUV has had CKD And has received some updates before reaching the 100,000 unit sales milestone.

Aside from the looks, the big news is the introduction of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Proton, along with a larger screen/upgraded infotainment system. Under the new bonnet, the X70 retains the MC’s 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder TGDi engine, producing 177PS and 255Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels (no AWD variant) via an improved seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
Proton claims fuel economy of 7.3 litres per 100km, a 4% reduction over the 2022 model. This is achieved through combustion efficiency, thermal management and reduced friction, with the positive side effect of improved NVH at low speeds.
The X70 facelift will come in four variants – Standard, Executive, Premium and Premium X. The ‘X’ is essentially Premium with the addition of a panoramic sunroof. Prices will be revealed at the launch event, but for reference, the outgoing model is priced at RM98,800 for the Standard, RM110,800 for the Executive, RM116,800 for the Executive AWD, RM123,800 for the Premium and RM126,800 for the Premium X.
