Proton X50 RC 2024 hits 8,000 bookings in first month, production ramps up to meet demand

2024 Proton X50 RC launched – same looks, better 360 cam and NVH, from RM86k, plus RM7k discount

The Proton X50 RC 2024 (short for Running Change) has received an ‘overwhelming response’, according to the manufacturer. The refreshed SUV has garnered 8,000 bookings in just a month since its launch in June, and Proton says demand has far exceeded its expectations.

“To meet this strong demand, Proton is ramping up production to accelerate deliveries to eager customers by August 2024,” the company said in a statement. Since Launched October 2020Proton has sold 115,262 units of the X50 (including exports, as of June 2024), making it the best-selling SUV in Malaysia.

“We are delighted to see such exceptional bookings in just the first month, which demonstrates the strong appeal of the 2024 Proton X50. This reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional value and quality to our customers,” said Roslan Abdullah, CEO of Proton Edar.

“We understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding the 2024 Proton X50 and we want to assure our customers that we are doing everything possible to meet their expectations,” he added.

Roslan, who is also Proton’s deputy CEO, said all customers who qualify for the early bird promotion of RM7,000 cash rebate and RM1,000/RM1,500 car exchange allowance will receive the corresponding incentives.

In summary, the X50 RC is offered in the same Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship variants, priced at RM86,300, RM93,300, RM101,800 and RM113,300 respectively, on-the-road without insurance. While the sticker price remains unchanged, there is a Special offer for the first 5,000 bookingsincluding RM7,000 cash rebate (all variants except Standard) and RM1,500 excess car exchange allowance for Proton vehicles (RM1,000 for other brands).

While the X50 RC’s exterior design and powertrain remain unchanged, NVH performance has been improved in more than 20 places across the B-SUV’s body, and all variants now feature a 10.3-inch central display and digital instrument cluster (previously, the Standard and Executive had smaller screens and analog dials). The engine is more responsive thanks to a 3.3x more powerful processor, and Spotify is now available.

There’s also the Proton Link mobile app for Executive and above, and an improved 360-degree camera feed. For added convenience, a powered tailgate is standard on the Flagship and Premium (previously an optional extra). Full details in Our launch report.
