Production Kia EV9 has a release window

In The last LA Auto Show, That delivered one of the event’s hits with Big, boxy EV9 electric SUV concept. Aside from just showing off some impressive styling, Kia has announced that it will have a production version in the future, though the automaker hasn’t said exactly when. We now have a rough estimate thanks to Kia’s European branch.

Obviously the production EV9 will arrive in Europe in 2023. That could be anywhere in that year, but it certainly narrows things down. We’ve reached out to Kia America, but a rep says they don’t offer a US release window right now.

The full-size SUV seems like the smart next move for the brand’s EV lineup, as the segment is relatively wide open right now and SUVs are as popular as ever. Not only that, but Telluride proved that the traditional SUV silhouette is what buyers are looking for right now.

Other details about the SUV are still lacking, but Kia has previously noted that the EV9 will be built on the same E-GMP platform as the basis for the SUV. Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Genesis GV60. The estimated range is around 300 miles and it will support 350 kW fast charging as well as provide power to run other electrical devices. We also expect it to be available with dual electric motors for all-wheel drive.

Update: Added comment from Kia America.
