Price and specifications Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme 2023

completely new Mitsubishi Triton coming soon, but the upcoming version is turning into a swan song – courtesy of the famous Australian engineering company rickshaw.

This is a limited edition model based on the Triton GSR, upgraded with better suspension, new wheels and tires, tough plating and design add-ons, sold at Mitsubishi dealers.

It gives Mitsubishi a competitor to other Australian-made ute halos like Nissan Navara Warrior by Premcar, Toyota HiLux RogueAnd Mazda BT-50 God of Thunderfill the void it hasn’t solved with any equivalent Ralliart so far.

This is primarily the work of Walkinshaw Automotive Group (WAG), the Melbourne engineering and design firm responsible for HSV, which has reinvented itself with HSV Colorado SportsCats And Volkswagen Amarok W Series double dot.

Although Mitsubishi Australia clearly knew and supported the creation of the Triton Xteme, the development was both proposed and directed by Walkinshaw.

For reasons of existence, ‘only’ 500 pieces will be produced, making it a limited edition.

valuation

That’s $71,990 before on-road costs, about $15,000 more than the Triton GSR variant it’s based on. There has never been a more expensive Triton on sale at the company’s dealerships.

That makes it about the same amount as a Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior, a conceptually similar model with the same kind of mechanical updates, made by another Melbourne engineering firm (Premcar) presently.

Other competitors in the same price range include the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, Toyota HiLux Rogue and Mazda BT-50 Thunder.

  • Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme: $71,990
  • Ford Ranger Wildtrak V6: $71,190
  • Toyota HiLux Scam: $70,200

Powertrain

The Xtreme runs on the same powertrain as the original Triton, delivering below-average power, torque and traction compared to other best-selling models.

The 2.4 liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder work for 133kW power (3500rpm) and 430Nm torque (2500 rpm), mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Its Super Select II 4×4 system offers 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4HLc (50:50 4×4) and 4L (low range) modes, as well as a full-time 4×4 mode. 4H is available for use on the runway.

The towing capacity is still 3100kg.

Effective

Walkinshaw claims an unchanged fuel consumption of 8.6L/100km (ADR) from a 75L fuel tank.

size

Interestingly, the Walkinshaw claims all the same key dimensions and weights as the Triton GSR: 5305mm long, 1795mm high and 1815mm wide, 220mm ground clearance, 2000kg with 900kg payload, 2900kg GVM and 5885kg GCM.

There are also no changes to the approach angle (31 degrees) and exit angle (23 degrees).

The tub measures 1520mm long x 1470mm wide x 475mm deep and the distance between the wheel arches is 1085mm.

Service and Warranty

The Triton Xtreme is covered by a sponsor’s 10-year or 200,000 km warranty as long as you service it at a Mitsubishi dealer. The standard warranty is otherwise five years or 100,000 km.

The company says Walkinshaw Automotive Group’s warranty is “consistent with Mitsubishi’s standard Triton warranty,” referring to the added parts. We are currently clarifying whether that means 5 years or 10 years.

There is a price-limited service for 10 years or 150,000km, with intervals of once per year or every 15,000km – whichever comes first.
