Porsche has signed an agreement with Boston-based ClearMotion to collaborate in the area of ​​advanced chassis systems with the goal of enhancing the performance of its road cars. Through the partnership, both companies will collaborate on ClearMotion1 (CM1), a high-bandwidth active suspension technology, as well as RoadMotion, a road surface fingerprinting software for key chassis control. dynamic.

The CM1 system has an electric motor and electronic power in each wheel, working with software that scans the road ahead to reduce movement inside the car by about 75% compared to the best available technology.

“The planned cooperation aims to lay the foundation for evaluating even closer cooperation with ClearMotion in the future,” said Ingo Albers, vice president of powertrains at Porsche. In addition to the agreement, the parties have also signed a licensing agreement allowing the jointly developed technologies to be used by other car models within the Volkswagen Group.

“This partnership will create a step change in the way we experience driving as well as our expansion into the European market. We look forward to creating a fruitful partnership with Porsche and the prospect of building a long-term, multi-brand partnership,” commented Christian Steinmann, CEO of ClearMotion.

ClearMotion was founded in 2009 and is said to have acquired Bose’s active suspension technology in 2017. The company’s advanced chassis system is also used by Nio in ET9 was revealed last December, with deliveries set to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
