Police convert seized 200mph Ferrari from criminals into patrol car | World News

It can run over 200mph and was once owned by criminals.

Now, it is being used to chase them.

Czech police have added their assets to a Ferrari 458 Italia that was once considered a “criminal property”.

With a highly refined 4.5-liter V8 engine, it will be used to pursue “the most aggressive drivers on the Czech highways”, the officers said.

It will also be deployed against illegal races traveling through different countries, including some 30 years before the coronavirus pandemic.

Such events feature the appearance of cars similar to Italian supercars with “extremely high performance that ordinary patrol vehicles cannot fully compete with”, the Czech Police explained.

It covers only 2,000 km (1,242 miles) and will be used by the Czech Republic’s Special Surveillance Service.

Officers will receive additional training before piloting it.

It has become a bargain. The modification cost less than a new Skoda Scala, police said.

The Ferrari is neither the rarest nor the most valuable car that Czech police have seized.

In the last year, they have held close to 900 vehicles, the majority of which have been sold.

Almost £241m worth of property was seized in 2021.

“The proceeds are used to compensate for the damage caused by the violator,” police said.
