The Sumo Association has announced new banners as part of an ongoing partnership with The Pokemon Company. This time, the new banners will focus on Pokemon introduced in the fourth generation games Diamond Pokemon, Pearl, and Platinum. Furthermore, it also revealed two special kimonos with Pokemon– Attractive designs. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Similar to previous cooperation from 2021, promotional material featuring Pikachu and Sumo Pokemon Hariyama. Traditionally, Sumo tournaments will hang advertising banners at the beginning of the match. Previously, these banners featured Pikachu, Makuhita, and the original game cover of Red Pokemon and Green.
During the January bash, these banners will feature fourth generation Pokemon Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. In addition, the legendary Pokemon Dialga, Palkia and Arceus will also appear. Those won’t be the only banners, though, as the Sumo Association plans to feature more than 200 banners about games spanning generations.
Furthermore, Gyoji (Sumo referee) will also be wearing special clothes Pokemon– themed kimonos during the event period. One of these kimonos has a distinct pixel-art design reminiscent of older kimonos Pokemon titles.
