Pokemon diamond and pearl remake sales hit 13.9 million units

Recently Financial report from Nintendo revealed Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Bright Pearl The remake has sold 13.97 million copies worldwide. The majority of these sales came from the October-December 2021 holiday season. Overall software sales increased significantly during that period.

The latest sales numbers make Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining pearls Ninth best-selling Switch titles to date. Of the 13.9 million units sold, about 10 million were sold outside of Japan.

For comparison, Famitsu previously reported back in December 2021 that the two remakes sold one 6 million units worldwide since its launch. Early November, remakes went on sale 1.3 million units in the first week of release. The next best-selling titles, Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eeveehas sold 14.3 million cumulative units since its 2018 release.

Interestingly, the financial report also notes that sales of digital software have increased significantly during the holiday season. The report credits several releases for an increase in sales. These include the release of Diamond Pokemon and Pearl remake, as well as release Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise DLC and Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Packs. These releases may also help drive hardware sales for the Nintendo Switch.
