Pletcher can send out powerful trio in Whitney

When entries are made August 3 for $1 million on Saturday to Whitney (G1) at Racecourse SaratogaTodd Pletcher will have three of them. The Hall of Fame coach said on July 31 that Americanrevolution owned by WinStar Farm and China Horse Club, will take part in 1/8 mile race, take part in forbidden favorite race Life is good from the same ownership as Americanrevolution, and Wertheimer and Frere’s Happy Saver .

However, there is no guarantee that Americanrevolution will work. Pletcher could still choose to run her half-New York son Structure in the $1.25 million Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) on September 3.

“We’ll look into it and see how things go,” Pletcher said. “It’s part of the insurance policy, especially with Americanrevolution. You never know what could happen, someone might have a day off. There’s another horse in there that can give you some safer.”

Pletcher chatted with WinStar President, CEO and Racing Director Elliott Walden after the Americanrevoluton worked four times on July 30 in the company with Happy Saver at: 49.75 on Saratoga Oval and gave out this plan.

Americanrevolution has won 5 out of 9 career starts, including the Cigar Mile Handicap presented by NYRA Bets (G1).

“What surprised me about him was how quickly he leveled up,” Pletcher said. “He went from being a New York-bred boy in Belmont to the Finger Lakes (won the New York Derby) and then back here (won the Albany Stakes), finished third in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) and then Champion Empire Classic and Cigar Mile .

“In five months, he went from being a half-New York teenager to middle school,” he said. “It’s something you don’t see often. He’s a solid horse, for sure.”

Pletcher said Luis Saez would ride the Americanrevoluton in the Whitney if he went. Irad Ortiz Jr. will join Life Is Good. Happy Saver, who came in second, was defeated six times before Flight route in the Hill ‘N’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap (G1) at Belmont Park June 11 in his final start, there will have to be a new driver. For a mile, the Happy Saver was driven by Ortiz Jr.
