Planet Zoo adds lemurs and free anniversary cake updates
Planet Zoo is celebrating its second year with a free update that adds black and white ruffled lemurs, and a new cake shop. I’m so excited, lemurs are my favorite! I went to the IRL zoo last month and the lemur guide was closed which was absolutely painful. But if I can’t get real lemurs, you can be sure I’m adding some of these fluffy species to my virtual crates.
The update is out now, and you’ll be able to celebrate the game’s second birthday by adding a cake shop called Bernie’s Bakes to your park. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bakery in a zoo, come to think of it. Donut stalls, sure, but never donuts. Huh.
But the best new addition, apparently, is the ruffled white lemur. Planet Zoo already has ring-tailed lemurs and red ruffled lemurs, but these monotonous lemurs will add a bit of variation to your lemur space. I think the white ruffles are my favorite, purely because it looks like they have a bushy beard.
The Frontier developers are also hosting an in-game challenged community this weekend. From today to Sunday, November 7th, every year an animal you release increases your chances of getting rarer animals (like those with albino). Then every 20 times you release will give you a new outfit. Check out all details and patch notes on the forum.
Planet Zoo is a Best RPS Best, and in Nate’s Reviews on Planet Zoo from 2019, he calls it his undisputed game of the year. “Because here’s the thing: it’s a game where you can build your own zoo. And by thunder, it delivers on that promise,” he wrote.
I wonder if Nate has anything in store for us with these new things. After the game added the North American Animal Pack last month, he made a grim fax about HBO’s Deadwood, complete with crates labeled “Water Asshole” and “Fucking Pond Man”.
