Pininfarina designs Eysing PF40 electric motorcycle

Legendary Italian designer Pininfarina has brought magic to the Eysing PF40 e-bike. Inspired by the motorcycle design of the 1930s, the PF40 is an e-bike with a “classic future”.

Based on Ensign’s handmade Pioneer e-bike model, the PF40 features an analog speedometer and round, hooded headlights, reports movelectric.com. The design of the P40 itself is very minimalist, with the engine mounted on the rear wheel axle.

Calling the PF40 an “electric motorcycle”, in Europe it means a top speed limited to 45 km/h and does not require a “full” motorcycle license, intended for use if it is a short journey within and around urban areas. The hub motor is rated at 1.5 kW and is available in two versions – limited to 25 km/h and 50 km/h.

The front suspension is old-school style spring fork, while the rear is sturdy. The brake system uses mechanical drum brakes at the front and rear, and is equipped with alloy wheels with old-fashioned tires with embossed ribbed patterns.

Configured from the start as a single seat, the PF40 weighs 60 kg, while no details are available on battery capacity, range or charging time. Pre-orders are being made for the Eyeing PF40 on its website for a reservation fee of 1,000 euros. The list price is 13,780 euros (RM64,128).
