Pete Nance, the best existing player in basketball, moved to North Carolina from Northwestern
Potential No. 1 team North Carolina landed Northwest transfer Pete NanceThe best player available in the men’s basketball portal.
Nance visited Chapel Hill earlier this week and announced his decision via Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Nance originally entered the NBA draft – which also put him in the transfer portal – but chose to withdraw before the early admission deadline to play another year of college basketball. The 6-foot-10 forward, he won an honorary All-Big Ten from the media last season after averaging 14.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. and shot 45.2% from a distance of 3 points. He has made six 20-point appearances, including 28-point effort, 14 rebounds, 4 assists against Maryland in January.
With Brady Manek gone, Nance will fit perfectly into North Carolina’s starting line-up next season. Manek provides side energy Armando Bacot at the front line of Tar Heels while shooting 40% better from 3 with 6-9 forward power. Nance, who ranked 7th in ESPN’s Transfer Rankingswill change its size and shooting style.
Coach Hubert Davis returns four other starting players from last season’s group that made it to the national championship game before losing Kansas. Bacot, Caleb’s Love, RJ Davis and Black leak all chose to move back to North Carolina rather than go pro, and Davis is bringing in three ESPN 100 rookies to bolster the team’s depth.
