New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today highlights the availability of positron emission tomography (PET) at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY
The PET machine has now been installed at Rood & Riddle, where it is available for use throughout the Belmont Stakes and throughout the entire 2024 summer meeting at Saratoga Race Courseopens July 11 and continues through September 2.

PET scans, performed without general anesthesia, evaluate metabolic activity in a variety of tissues and can be used to identify abnormal metabolic activity in bones that may indicate signs early injury.
