Since college, I’ve loved going to Half Price Books, a second-hand bookstore chain that first launched in Texas. Now, I love to go book shopping with our dogs – and am happy to say that dogs are allowed in Half Price Books stores.
So get ready to buy your local Half Price Books with your dog! Your dog will need to be on a leash or walking while shopping.

As you may know if you’ve sold books there in the past, there can sometimes be a bit of a wait as the staff tallies your books so you and your dog can look around the store while you wait. . Last year, the chain bought more than 2 million books from customers.

Before your trip
- Pack a leash no longer than 6 feet. Shorter leashes will help keep your dog from tangling on display and reduce tripping risks for other shoppers.

- Pack a cleaning kit. Along with the poop bag, pack some tissues and hand sanitizer. You never know.
During your trip
- Stop the potty before entering the store. Even if your dog pees before he leaves the house, take a few minutes to visit the trees in the parking lot.
- Keep your dog close. For the safety of both your dog and other shoppers, keep your dog by your side when shopping.
- Process any accident immediately. If your dog is in an accident, pick it up immediately. Especially if you have a male dog that loves to mark, pay special attention. When you find your dog seems a bit interested in a spot, speed up the walk or distract your dog with a treat. There are a lot of smells in a store (and these are used books, so there will be smells from many homes on those shelves) so keep an eye on your dog.

Well, the answer depends on your dog.
Unlike home repair shop large and noisy, even if you visit during non-peak hours, the Half Price Books stores are smaller and quieter – so they are a perfect store to visit if your dog is new shopping.
And unlike home repair stores, many Half Price Books locations are carpeted – so if you’re worried about your dog having an accident while potty or being marked, this is not the place. good choice for you. Also, if your dog shows any form of aggression — with people or other dogs — then dog-friendly stores are not for your dog.

Can Service Dogs Go Half Price?
