Pelicans star Zion Williamson to continue his rehabilitation after he injured his leg while leaving the team



New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson remains on the sidelines as he continues rehab for his fractured foot.

The Pelicans announced today in a statement that the former No. 1 pick overall will continue to detox from the team as he attempts to return to the field this season.

“As you can imagine, this was a very difficult process for me,” Williamson said in a statement. “I know there is still a lot of work to be done in my recovery before I can safely return to the court, but I will continue to take the time necessary to be able to return to the ring with my team. and represents the Pelicans and the city of New Orleans fans at the highest level.

“Basketball means a lot to me, and I thank the Pelicans and everyone who has surrounded me with love and support throughout this journey – family, friends, teammates, coaching. staff, staff, fans and everyone who supported me and lifted me up when I needed it most. ”

Williamson has not played this season after breaking a bone in his right foot during the season that required surgery. Although it was initially thought that he would return at the start of the season, he has experienced many setbacks.

The Pelicans are currently in 13-25 place for the season, holding the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
