Parker to explore other options after Joyce fights through

Joseph Parker could explore other paths after his summer battle against Joe Joyce officially approved.

The heavyweight competition had been scheduled for July 2 at Wembley Arena, but Parker’s coach Andy Lee will become a father that month, which worked for the bout.

Plan B looks like September for the two rivals to collide, but the New Zealander’s manager David Higgins hinted that other offers might not be too far off.

“No deal, no contract signed. There are other promoters who are chasing us hard with other good options.”

The fight was announced during the Tyson Fury-Dillian Whyte broadcast last month. One confrontation took place before a second confrontation took place against the behind-the-scenes cameras.

Parker, who used to work with Matchroom, is now a freelance agent after his straight win over Dereck Chisora. The former WBO heavyweight champion was back in Auckland for a split second as he awaited news of the bout.

“You play the cards you’re dealt… Joe doesn’t complain,” Higgins said.
