Orlando Health launches Home Care program



Orlando Health on Monday announced that it has been approved by the Florida Health Care Administration to begin providing hospital-grade acute care in the homes of adult patients.

The health system is planning to launch its Hospital Care At Home initiative in February and make it available to specific patients who meet certain clinical criteria set forth by the emergency department and determined by hospital staff.

Conditions such as cellulitis, COPD, asthma, UTIs, heart failure, COVID-19, pneumonia, and gastroenteritis are among those that can be safely treated in a home program.

Orlando Health’s plan is the first in Central Florida to be approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and represents an expansion of the federal enhanced care model created during the pandemic to expand its reach. hospital resources.

Patient Care at Home will use connected telemedicine and health monitoring tools that will connect patients to the Orlando Health Patient Center for 24/7 virtual care by nurses and providers, in addition to the daily in-person nursing check-in.
