Like a bad killer movie that shatters its original promise with too many lousy sequels.
Global warming breaks 1.5C . key limit for the first time
By Matt McGrath

Scientists predict our overheated world will likely break a critical temperature limit for the first time in the next few years.
The researchers say there is now a 66% chance we will pass the 1.5C global warming threshold between now and 2027.
Opportunities are growing due to emissions from human activities and the likely El Nino weather pattern later this year.
If the world crosses the line, scientists stress that the transgression, though worrisome, will likely be temporary.

A rise of more than 1.5 degrees Celsius per year over a decade or two would see much larger effects of warming, such as longer-lasting heat waves, more intense storms and wildfires.
But surpassing this level in the next few years does not mean that the Paris limit has been broken. There is still time to limit global warming by drastically cutting emissions, scientists say.

What do they do when the limit is breached and nothing unusually bad happens?
The fact is that they set the limit so low to dramatic effect on the asset. They needed an imminent goal, so that people wouldn’t get bored waiting, but now that the limit has come to us, their predictions of the consequences have become hazy and pervasive.
“longer heatwaves, more intense storms and wildfires” – is this the best they have to show, given the billions of dollars spent on climate research? We can all save a lot of money: a few dollars given to a festive fortune teller can give us that degree of predictive skill.
Maybe before filming their 1.5C story, they should read some advice from the legendary horror novel author King Stephen (from Scary Danse):
… Horror artwork is almost always disappointing. It’s a classic no-win situation. You can scare people away with the unknown for a long time, but sooner or later, like in poker, you have to turn your cards face up. You have to open the door and show the audience what’s behind it. …
Stephen King is a liberal-voting climate-warning Democrat on the left, but surely even he must be concerned about the quality of the green narrative. My prediction, sooner or later, the great author will realize what the fear of global warming really is – poorly constructed, low quality horror fiction.
