“Cruise alerters: check your facility and update your information. Take a week long cruise. Bring some books to beat ‘climate anxiety’. Epstein, Koonin, Bryce, Lomborg, Smil, Morano…. All affordable and best selling.

I’m leaving the country on a cruise ship next week. It was a pretty amazing, affordable trip. A week at sea with many international destinations for the masses – middle class and some upper to middle class. (Cunard from New York City to Liverpool will have to wait for some of us.)

There will be approximately 5,400 passengers and 2,200 crew on board (The charm of the sea). The improved diesel engine that powers the ship (both electric) represents the work of hundreds of thousands”energy slave.” All to have an experience that kings and queens of old could only dream of.

Cruise ships are small cities on the sea. They are monuments of freedom, participating in the Supermarket and of course the ultimate capitalist institution, the Stock Market. There is almost no government, just “simple rules for a complex world.”

All the great food one can eat and a reflective view of the open ocean. Destination excursions to see ecological treasures. Again, it’s all made possible by reliable, dense mineral energy.

Complaint! (Stephen Fern, Ark2030)

Bah, humbug–climate-busy people don’t like such conspicuous consumption, fueled by dense mineral energy. This is a recent parcel from Stephen Fern, founder Ark2030in response to a next-generation super cruise ship, Symbol of the sea (King of the Caribbean).

I think this is the perfect illustration of where the world has gone wrong. A glorious celebration of greed, consumption and mercenary; packaged as ‘entertainment’. All on one boat.

It presents the perfect contrast to what ‘Ark Lovers’ are looking for.

A world where our happiness is based on mutual respect for people, planet and prosperity.

Where our fulfillment comes from our connection to nature, positive relationships with family and friends, belonging to communities that care about each other and their surroundings.

Take care of our physical and mental health, eat healthy, seasonal local food and enjoy every aspect of life provided for free.

Don’t just take what we want just because we can… and always make sure we give more than we get.

Than Complaint! (Assaad is angry)

enter Assad Razzoukthe “angry clean energy guy,” and head of Gurīn Energy in Singapore (renewable energy), and author of “Save the planet without the bullshit.” Chapter “Save the Planet Without Bullshit”: A luxury yacht is a stinking floating dump,” Statuses:

Luxury cruises are trash cans punctuated by water. 47 cruise ships emit 10 times more sulfur dioxide in European waters (2017 data) than all of Europe’s 260 million cars combined. That’s just 1 of 3 air pollutants released from ship’s chimneys.

And it gets worse… Many in the industry also use the dirtiest fuel possible to power their ships, which is 100 times more polluting than road diesel.

– Tunnel fuel is a waste from refining and it is an environmental nightmare. Black, dense, heavy and toxic, it does not evaporate and emits more toxins than other fuels because it contains a lot of sulfur, when burned, it releases gases that are harmful to human health and environment. These gases are toxic to fish and seabirds and are not good for humans living near ports because they travel hundreds of kilometers: 70% of transport emissions occur within 400 kilometers of land.

Industry releases an incredible amount of toxins, much of which enters our lungs. Ship engine oil pollution increases rates of childhood asthma and cancer, contributing to approximately 1,300 premature deaths each year around the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and 60,000 deaths annually worldwide. bridge

By using this fuel, the industry is also subsidizing the oil and gas industry. If the shipping lines don’t buy it, oil and gas companies will have to dispose of it safely, a costly proposition — and a $450 billion subsidy.

The shipping industry dumps its plastic into the oceans. It dumps its garbage. It spills its excess oil. It also dumps its stinky sewage

Vessels are required to treat waste with equipment known as ‘Marine Sanitary Equipment’ – except this can mean any device designed to treat wastewater, which usually leaves behind contaminants. Toxic pollution, bacteria and heavy metals harm marine ecosystems

The shipping industry is also responsible for one billion tons of carbon each year. If it were a country, it would be the 6th largest polluter in the world. Its emissions are increasing to the point where they are now predicted to be between 50% and 250% higher by 2050

The price they pay for all that poison: No

Friends of the Earth

Test your base and truth, Angry Assad. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant and the actual pollutants mentioned have been decreasing. Check out the websites of major cruise lines and learn about the amazing technology that keeps ocean waters as clean as they are found. And ignore the emotions and go on an excursion yourself to see how you like it. (But please do not float wind turbines or solar buoys to interfere with operation.)

Friends of the Earth

In Environmental impact of cruise ships (March 14, 2022), eco-group Friends of the Earth stated:

Cruise ships are a disaster for the environment — and that’s no exaggeration. They dump toxic waste into our seas, fill the planet with carbon dioxide and kill marine wildlife. The environmental impact of cruise ships never ends and they continue to get bigger. They used to be small ships, about 30,000 tons. Now, corporations are building multi-billion dollar cruise ships to accommodate more than 9,000 people. They are doing everything they can to attract floating cities full of tourists while polluting everything in their path.

Worse:

… everything a cruise ship comes into contact with is potentially compromised during their voyage. Air, water, fragile habitats, coastal communities and wildlife are all affected. But most governments have refused to take action to really regulate the cruise industry and have buried their heads in the sand to ignore the ongoing damage to the environment and communities.
