Officers Gift Teenager a Puppy After He Witnessed His Dog’s Tragic Death

Eli Filiatreau, 16, recently had to go through the most terrifying moment of his life. He witnessed someone kill a 6-month-old German Shepherd named Titan right in front of him. It was a sudden death, and the suspect did it on purpose and was subsequently arrested.

After witnessing the suffering Eli had to go through, officers from Nelson County in Kentucky wanted to help. So they worked together to get a new puppy for the teenager. Of course, the new dog will never replace Titan, but hopefully, it can help fill the hole in Eli’s heart.

An unbearable tragedy

Losing a dog is hard enough, but watching your dog get killed is even more confusing. Eli was outside with Titan when the unthinkable happened. A car stopped near the end of the family’s driveway, but then it intentionally accelerated to beat an innocent dog. Sadly, Titan did not survive.

The suspect’s motives in this unforgivable act are unknown, but the police quickly arrested him. The suspect was charged with cruelty to animals.

Eli and his family are heartbroken. It’s good that the person responsible was caught, but that didn’t bring Titan back. Nothing can bring the beloved dog back. However, the officers couldn’t stand the boy’s pain, so they worked together to cheer him up.

There is good in the world

The policemen pooled money together to buy a new German Shepherd puppy for Eli. This little pup is only 6 weeks old, and he has the cutest soft ears and big paws. He won’t take Titan’s place, but he has brought more love to his family.

“Well, his name is Pho, and we came up with it, me and my parents, because we were [him] from the police,” Eli said. “It’s just amazing. I’m speechless how good these people are.”

While the officers don’t want any recognition, they certainly deserve a lot of it. Eli’s family has sent many thanks to them, and their Facebook followers thank them as well. Some officers have also promised to check on Eli and Vice from time to time.

Eli and his family will always miss Titan, but it’s great that they can share their love with Vice. Sadly, there are many cruel people in this world, like the one who killed Titan, but these officers remind us that there are still a lot of kind souls out there.
