Top Predictions for the 2022 BMW Championship
One big surprise this model is calling for at the 2022 BMW Championship: Cantlay, the defending champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles and finishes outside the top 5. Cantlay was one of the best players on the tour in recent weeks, finishing T-8 or better in three of his last four starts. He’s scored a total of 10 top 10 finishes this season, including a win at the Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour’s only team event.
However, Cantlay struggled last week at FedEx St. Jude Championship, when finishing T-57 after hitting par in his final two innings. In addition, Cantlay is currently 96th in driving accuracy rate (61.16%) and 185th in delivering the ball from 10-15 feet, which could cause big trouble this week. He is not a strong pick to win it all and much better value in the field of BMW Championship 2022.
Another surprise: Xander Schauffele, an 18-1 ranger, had a strong title win. He has a much higher chance of winning than his odds, so he is a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.
It’s hard to find many holes in Schauffele’s golf game right now. In fact, Schauffele entering this week’s event ranked in the top 10 for birdie average (4.41), grade point average (69,514) and grade point average (1,721). His constant finishing has helped Schauffele to 282 birdies this season.
