NYRA Cancels August 9 Pass; Moves Two Grade 1 Races

The New York Racing Association announced on August 8 that the 10-stage race scheduled for August 9 at Saratoga Race Track has been canceled due to heavy rainfall and strong winds associated with Tropical Storm Debby that is expected to impact the area overnight and throughout the day Friday.

Friday’s $125,000 Evan Shipman and $125,000 Union Avenue tournaments will be rescheduled.

The Fourstardave Handicap (G1T) and Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) scheduled for August 10 will now be held as the final two races on August 11.

Saratoga Raceway will be closed on Friday and there will be no breakfast or track tour. Fans who hold Friday tickets are eligible for a full refund or credit toward a future purchase and will be contacted directly by the NYRA sales office. Tickets purchased through third-party websites are not eligible for refunds from NYRA and customers must contact the third-party vendor directly for assistance.

Live racing is scheduled to resume on August 10 at Saratoga with first post at 12:35 p.m.
