Nunam Technologies in partnership with Mumbai’s BEST E-Bus System, will monitor battery health and performance


Startup Nunam Technologies, which manufactures energy storage devices, will partner with Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) to run a test implementation of a battery prognosis and health management system for e-buses, the organizer of the accelerator program WRI India said on Thursday.

Nunam Technology and a software company specializing in commercial vehicle fleet electrification Microgrid Labs was selected by Better electric bus electronic bus World Resources Institute of India (WRI India) Challenge Accelerator Program.

The program is supported by the Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) Electronic Bus Mission.
The selection of the two companies for the program allows them to test their solutions with partner government agencies.

“Nunam Technologies will cooperate with Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Working in Mumbai. The company will pilot the implementation of a battery prognosis and health management (PHM) system for an e-bus.

“Real-time performance and battery health monitoring system to optimize operation and safety of e-buses, passengers and operators”, WRI India speak in a statement.

Both companies will get deployment support up to $50,000 (nearly Rs 40 lakh) and also receive expert guidance.

“Microgrid Labs will work with Bengaluru City Transport Corporation (BMTC) in Bengaluru. Their solution will assist with planning and analysis, automating and optimizing the toll collection and vehicle dispatching processes,” the statement said.

In early May, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) speak it will launch its first electric bus on June 1 on the Pune-Ahmednagar route on a day when the state transit agency will enter its 75th year of operation.

MSRTC is one of the largest state-owned public transport companies in the country with a bus fleet of more than 16,000 units. The loss-making company carried more than 65,000 passengers a day before the pandemic broke out in March 2020.
