Ocala Stud freshman Win win win saw its first winner on June 13, when prices were high Nooni turned around to win the first special weight class over 5 furlongs in Santa Anita Park in her highly anticipated career debut.
Bred in Florida by Ocala Stud, Joseph O’Farrell III, David O’Farrell and others, Nooni is no stranger to making headlines. She topped the Ocala Breeders March 2-Year-Old In-Training Sale, selling to Zedan Racing Stables for $1.8 million after going the quarter-mile in :20 1/5 at the Sales are in preview.
Ridden by Juan Hernandez, Nooni, the favourite, took the lead and immediately established a clear advantage over his rival. She raced clear and won by nine and a half lengths without ever being asked to give her best effort. After rolling without argument through the fractions : 22.07 and : 45.44, she finally stopped the clock at : 58.21 and slowed down.
Apprentice Bob Baffert produced from Alliance rags mare Unanimity, and she comes from the family of Grade 1 winners Discreet Cat and Discreetly Mine.
“At auction, she was quite spectacular,” Baffert said from the winner’s circle. “These young stallions, you never know. Sometimes a monster will come out of the woodwork. I probably would never buy him as a colt.”
Nooni has worked 8 times since April 21 for her debut. She returns $2.40, $2.10 and $2.10 as 1-5 favorites.
“She was classy and had a great mind,” Baffert said. “We were able to continue with her right after the sale. Sometimes you have to give them a little rest, but when she got here, she ran away.”
Classically bred for record-setting speed, Win Win Win proved to be an impressive winner in the 2020 Forego Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course in his final career start. Overall, he earned $601,600 during a stellar racing career. In his second year at the age of 3, Win Win Win set a record in Tampa Downs Bay in winning the Pasco Stakes. He came out strong in that seven-round bout, stopping the clock at 1:20.89.
He also won the Manila Stakes over a mile on turf at Belmont Parkachieved the distance in 1:31.56, well beyond the record set by Oscar achievement (1:31.23).
A Live Oak cross, Win Win Win is the son of a Group 1/Grade 1 winner Hat Trick, champion miler in Japan and son of dual classic winner Sunday Silence. The Florida-bred gelding comes from a deep Live Oak family and his dam is the winning Smarty Jones mare Miss Smarty Pants, a half-sister to the graded and placed stakes winner Many stakes are graded Unbridled humor .
In addition to Nooni, Win Win Win was purchased by Champion Equine for $310,000 at the OBS Spring Sale for 2-year-olds in training. He sold 11 of 17 2-year-olds from his first crop for an average of $248,636.
