Nolan Ramsey, a longtime assistant to trainer Mike Maker before leaving on his own in April, earned his first win as a trainer on Friday at Gulfstream Park.
The 27-year-old Lexington, KY native scored his first win with Marshamarshamamarsha ($5), owned by his grandfather Ken Ramsey, a longtime thoroughbred owner who has won four Eclipse Awards as a way is the outstanding owner of North America with his late wife Sarah and is the leading owner in the 2023-2024 Championship.
Marshamarshamarsha, Ramsey’s fifth starter, set the pace early while holding his place before making a three-wide sweep into the home turn en route to a decisive points win in Race 5, a one-run event miles on turf for 3-year-old fillies racing for an asking price of $16,000.

Ramsey started being offered jobs for Maker when he was just 14 years old.
