Noah Syndergaard and Mike Francesa deliver Grade A beef on Twitter: ‘Didn’t know you were still alive’
East Coast-West Coast beef is a ’90s dish, but it looks like it’s alive and well in 2021.
Noah Syndergaard recently signed a one-year deal to head west and join the Angels, this after apparently turning down the Mets’ qualifying offer in the process.
That decision appeared to leave New York’s (retired) sports pope and former WFAN broadcaster, Mike Francesa, who took to Twitter to offer some unsolicited, unrevealed comments. Regarding Syndergaard and Mets:
Mets better without Syndergaard. In case you didn’t realize, they haven’t had him in years.
– Mike Francesa (@MikeFrancea) November 19, 2021
“The Mets are better without Syndergaard. In case you didn’t realize, they haven’t had him in years,” Francesa tweeted.
Francesa is right about one thing: The Mets have been without Syndergaard for a couple of years, as “Thor” has battled injury since 2019, making only innings appearances – both in 2021 – in that span. .
In any case, the pitcher wasn’t pleased with Francesa’s words, instead offering some ill will of his own in a reply:
Damn, didn’t know you were still alive. Congratulations.
– Noah Syndergaard (@Noahsyndergaard) November 19, 2021
“Damn, didn’t know you were still alive. Congratulations,” replied Syndergaard.
THAN: In New York another beef baseball…
Not to be outdone, Francesa kept the steak intact, showcasing his truly overblown view of himself, comparing his three decades of ratings plus dominance to proper athletic prowess. France, on Syndergaard’s field:
I have competed every day for 35 years (and won) in my chosen career in the greatest city in the world. Noah groaned and ran away.
– Mike Francesa (@MikeFrancea) November 20, 2021
“I’ve competed every day for 35 years (and won) in my chosen profession in the greatest city in the world. Noah groans and runs away,” Francesa replied in a tweet.
Finally, Syndergaard delivers the finishing blow, dropping the hammer on Francesa after the absurd comparison:
Only thing you’ve ever won is to be a gaspie who hates opportunists. All you do is talk nonsense and spread malicious crap for the cause. Congratulations again honey, you are doing great.
– Noah Syndergaard (@Noahsyndergaard) November 20, 2021
“The only thing you ever win is being an airbag. Hate opportunists. All you do is talk and spread toxic crap for a cause. Congratulations once. Also, honey, you’re doing great,” he tweeted.
Syndergaard finished his Mets career with a 3.32 ERA and 2.92 FIP across 121 games (718 innings) in six injury-laden seasons with the New York NL.
Francesa ends her radio career as Numbah 1 in New York, it’s finally over bad rating loss to “The Michael Kay Show,” the ESPN Radio New York show in 2019.
If anything is clear, it’s that Francesa, the Radio Hall of Famer, still has her fast orb. The Angels will hope that Syndergaard remains his.
