No. 1 smart comes with built-in 22 kW AC charger in Malaysia? EV launches in 2023; range up to 440 km

The smart #1 may come with a built-in AC charger of up to 22 kW when it is launched in Malaysia later this year. This is according to a post by Smart Malaysia on their official Facebook page where they highlight the feature.

Keep in mind that the company wrote “up to”, suggesting higher-end variants will feature a 22 kW built-in AC charger – Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net), the company that handles the brand, has yet to disclose reveal the variant line -upward. As standard, the #1 comes with a 7.4 kW AC charger, with a 22 kW system being an option.

This is the case in the UK, where the base Pro+ variant sold there takes around 7.5 hours to reach a state of charge (SoC) of 10-80% with a 7.4 kW AC charger. Meanwhile, the Premium and Brabus variants with a 22 kW AC charger require just three hours. All variants of the #1 support DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, with the SoC reaching 10-80% in about 30 minutes.

It should be noted that very few EVs currently on sale in Malaysia come with a 22 kW AC charger, allowing for faster charging when plugged into a home wall box or public charger capable of delivering that amount of power. Examples of cars that come with a 22 kW AC charger include 55 quattro variants of the Electronic Q8, electronics GT And Porsche Taycan.

Meanwhile, a large number of electric vehicles are available in the market that come with 11 kW AC chargers, including Electric vehicle Kia Niro; bmw i7, i4, iX1; Mercedes-Benz EQA, balance, EQC, balance, EQS; Volvo XC40 Pure Charger And small electricity. More affordable electric cars like BYD Atto 3 And Good cat Ora comes with an AC charger capable of handling about 7 kW or slightly less.

The #1 will come as standard and in a Brabus enclosure, both powered by a 66 kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) battery that provides a WLTP rated range of up to 440 km (standard). or 400 km (Brabus).

The difference between the two is the output figures, with the standard model having a rear-mounted electric motor that makes 272 PS (268 hp or 200 kW) and 343 Nm of torque. Brabus adds a second electric motor up front for all-wheel drive and total system output is 428 PS (422 hp or 315 kW) and 543 Nm.
