NHL says it’s completed Bill Peters investigation, but Akim Aliu’s lawyer casts doubt


The NHL says it has accomplished its investigation into the conduct of former Calgary Flames head coach Bill Peters.

Deputy commissioner Invoice Daly informed reporters on Monday the league has wrapped up its investigation of Peters’ alleged racist and abusive behaviour towards his gamers.

Akim Aliu, who’s Black, performed for Peters when each have been with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs greater than a decade in the past. He accused his former coach in November 2019 of utilizing racial profanities.

Michal Jordan, who performed for Peters with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, additionally alleged Peters kicked him and punched one other unnamed participant throughout a recreation.

Peters resigned as head coach of the Calgary Flames within the wake of the accusations.

Daly stated Monday the NHL had been in contact with Aliu’s representatives about subsequent steps, however Ben Meiselas, Aliu’s lawyer, later tweeted he had not been contacted.
