New England Faces Power Outages This Winter – Are You Standing Out for That?

Essay by Eric Worrall

h/t Dr. Willie Soon; SURPRISE – The cold place that repeatedly rejects new gas pipeline proposals is running out of gas.

New England faces blackouts this winter with bills set to soar amid a natural gas import war with Europe – despite the US being one of the major producers. best of the world

  • Extreme cold spells in the Northeast could reduce gas availability, as more gas is burned to heat homes

Residents in New England cities are facing intermittent power outages this winter if temperatures drop during extended cold periods because of lower fuel supplies.

The region depends on natural gas imports to close the winter gap but is currently competing with European countries for liquefied gas shipments.

Russia’s cessation of most gas pipelines to the continent has increased the price and demand for natural gas globally.

Both Europe and the US are currently scrambling to import more LNG, which could send gas prices soaring next winter – even though the US is one of the top importers in the world.

The gas shortage is clearly the result of political incompetence in New England and a signal of green virtue. New England politicians have repeatedly rejected pipeline proposalsactivated by Green zealots claim New England doesn’t need gas pipelines. Now, New England may be about to pay a heavy price for this reckless political pantomime.

The article continues to blame Jones Act to limit air volume. The Jones Act is a law that restricts the vandalism, carriage of goods between U.S. ports, to ships built and flagged by the United States. But all those foreign ships are busy heading to Europe, which is in a more desperate situation than New England, so I doubt this late repeal of the Jones Act will create many differences.

I wish there was an easy solution. I’m sure there were plenty of reasonable people in New England who opposed this madness who were about to suffer along with its supporters. Even the people who have supported it – I mean, saying “I told you so” may provide momentary gratification, but the real people are about to have a terrible winter. All I can see in my mind are young children shivering from the cold, children who have no part in creating this nightmare, and elderly people suffering and in some cases dying, in dreary homes with no heating, with empty refrigerators and piles of unpaid heating bills.

The people I’m crazy about are politicians and relentless propagandists who convince ordinary people that their reckless, incoherent green signal is an energy policy.

In the spring of next year, survivors may be a little less willing to listen to advice. But what a terribly difficult way to learn they misplaced their beliefs.
