New electric vehicles are coming in 2025-2026


We have brought you the means like Acura ZDX, Honda PrologueAnd Chevrolet Equinox electric car. We’ve already test driven them, but now it’s time to preview the cars we know are in development but haven’t had a chance to see in person yet.

These cars, coming over the next two model years, represent the next wave: They were planned before the $7,500 tax cut and slowing EV sales growth collided over the past year. They still represent a new class of vehicles that are set to replace those that might share the same name. Which ones will thrive—and which ones won’t? We’re as eager to find out as you are.

Audi A6 E-Tron

A midsize luxury sedan, the A6 E-Tron will compete with the old Tesla Model S, in single- and dual-motor versions. The roughly 100-kilowatt-hour battery can provide a range of more than 300 miles, and 800-volt technology promises fast charging.

Audi Q6 E-Tron

With 94.4 kwh battery pack (usable), The Q6 E-Tron is Audi’s midsize SUV. Its twin motors—140kW up front and 280kW at the rear—bring up 422 horsepower. A “boost” mode bumps that up to 456 horsepower. An SQ6 E-Tron drinks more battery juice to send up to 510 horsepower to all four wheels—for a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds. An RS Q6 E-Tron is in the works.

Cadillac Escalade IQ

Part of the GM Ultium lineup, which also includes the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra EV as well as the Cadillac Lyriq, the full-size Escalade IQ SUV has a range of up to 450 miles, a battery pack of more than 200 kwh, a large interior display 55.0 inches and a price tag of nearly $130,000 when it launched from GM’s Factory Zero.

Cadillac Optiq

The small Cadillac EV SUV will launch this year with a price tag of around $54,000 and a range of around 300 miles. It could qualify for a $7,500 EV tax credit—which would put it on par with the gas-powered XT5.

Dodge Charger Daytona EV

It’s all about the PowerShots for battery power and Fratzonic sound. The Dodge Charger Daytona EV will be powered by a large battery pack and electric motors at each end, providing standard all-wheel drive. This year, R/T and Scat Pack models get PowerShot, a 15-second boost for an extra 40 horsepower, activated via a button on the steering wheel. That lets it blast to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The PowerShot-powered Scat Pack version has 670 horsepower and delivers a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds. Dodge hasn’t yet decided on the final sound profile it’s programming into the Fratzonic system. It’s also wavering on the EV part: Some new Chargers will be offered with a turbo-6.

Genesis GV90 and Hyundai Ioniq 7

Hyundai and Genesis are about to have large electric SUVs. The two will share some stories about the origins of the awesome Kia EV9, which comes with a 76.1 kwh battery and rear-wheel drive or a 99.8 kwh battery and rear- or all-wheel drive. Best range for the EV9 falls around 304 miles. More specifications will be announced soon as both models are expected to go on sale mid-2025.

Jeep Wagoneer S

Wagoneer S is Jeep’s upcoming battery electric SUV. With the big package under the floor, it produces 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, for a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. Mini Countryman

Mini’s next electric car is called Countryman Electric. The car, which will launch later this year in the United States, can be had with a single engine and 204 horsepower or a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive setup with 313 horsepower. Range is not expected to exceed 250 miles, if at all.

Porsche Macan EV

The Macan EV shares some architectural elements with the Audi Q6 E-Tron. All versions will come with two engines and all-wheel drive. Power output will range from 382 horsepower to 630 horsepower, with 0-60 mph acceleration from 4.9 seconds to 3.1 seconds in the Macan Turbo EV. Porsche will not supply it with one pedal driving mode

Ram 1500 REV

The Ram 1500 REV puts Stellantis’ full-size electric vehicle architecture into a pickup body style with an available 229-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a targeted range of up to 500 miles. Smaller versions get a 168-kilowatt-hour battery pack, which Ram says can provide up to 350 miles of range. Towing is rated at up to 14,000 pounds—compared to 10,000 pounds for competitors. VW’s long-gestating Microbus successor is finally arriving this fall, with a longer wheelbase and larger battery pack than the early Euro versions. About the size of Tesla’s Model X, the ID.Buzz will cost at least $50,000 more.

Volvo EX90

Volvo will finally launch the EX90 this summer. With a base price of $77,990 and seating for seven, the EX90 may qualify for some federal tax incentives. Dual-motor all-wheel drive is standard, with up to 496 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of between 4.7 and 5.7 seconds. Top models get air suspension, massaging front seats and wool-blend leather upholstery, as well as a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system.
