MyRacehorse Launches Online Auction Fund for Aftercare

MyRacehorse, a minority ownership program in the horse racing industry, has created Retail with Purpose, a program that includes a series of auctions featuring a variety of unique experiences and memorabilia that owners can bid on, with 100% of the proceeds going to the MyRacehorse Transformation Fund.

According to the organization, the fund will empower MRH’s racing and aftercare teams to maximize efforts to support our beloved athletes in a smooth transition to the next chapter of their lives.

The auctions will be facilitated through the MRH in-store “Retail with Purpose” program, with new items being introduced regularly. The auctions will run for a set period of time, ranging from five to 28 days, and MyRacehorse will announce the amount raised once they have concluded. These auction items include signed memorabilia, trophies, private morning training experiences, MRH horse equipment such as shoes and bridles, racetrack box seats, stud tours and more.

Bids are now being accepted for a private morning with trainer Richard Mandella, a private tour of Taylor Made Farm led by Duncan Taylor, and a saddle cloth used by the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) contender Go to Vegas and the bridle worn by Rosie’s Alibi, the winner of the competition.

Gross proceeds are defined as auction revenue minus any transaction/commercial fees associated with the payment for the winning item. In the rare event that cost of goods sold is required for an item, these will be included and disclosed. There will never be any administrative costs deducted from Retail for Purpose auctions.

All proceeds will be returned to the MRH Transition Fund, an initiative that empowers MyRacehorse owners to play a key role in the transition of jockeys from a racing career to a second career.

Retail with a Purpose is a post-sale care initiative within the MyRacehorse program dedicated to the extended care of Thoroughbred racehorses. It is not a separate non-profit initiative.

Each time MyRacehorse uses any funds from the transition fund, the owner will be provided with an update with a breakdown of how the funds were used. Types of expenses that may be part of a successful transition include veterinary costs, retraining, boarding, donations, etc.

According to the company, the fund is not limited to MyRacehorse alumni.

“While our MyRacehorse stable is certainly a top priority and we would like to deploy the majority of this capital to the transition of MRH horses specifically, as a company we have a strong commitment to the entire aftercare industry through strategic relationships with a number of organizations, including the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and other notable causes. Our transition fund will leverage our ability to partner with these organizations in our mission to support the transition of all retired racehorses,” MyRacehorse states on its website.
