Miami – It won’t take a detective to find out about this crime scene. On Thursday, as part of “Veganuary,” a group of nearly-naked PETA supporters will lie “dead” at a busy intersection, inside chalk outlines featuring fish, pigs, sheep and cows . The “evidence marks” by their “body” detail how animals suffer and die in the meat industry and provide statistics on the size of the slaughter — the such as “More than 110 million pigs have been killed in the US in 2020” and “Fish are killed by suffocation or by cutting off their gills while they are still awake”.
When: Thursday, January 27, 12 noon
Where: At the intersection of S. Miami Avenue and SE Seventh Street, Miami
“Like us, other animals feel pain, fear, and value their lives,” said Tracy Reiman, PETA Executive Vice President. “PETA will take passersby through the horrors of the meat industry in the hope that they will keep animals off the plate and out of the slaughterhouse.”
PETA — in part, their motto that “animals are not ours to eat” — opposes ethnocentrism, a human worldview – supremacy.
